New Delhi, Nov 10: The Chandni Chowk market will remain closed on Tuesday following the deadly explosion near the Red Fort that has claimed 10 lives so far.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said the explosion took place in a slow-moving vehicle that had stopped at a red light near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. “An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the blast, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, including FSL and NIA, are at the spot. Some people have died and some are injured. The situation is being closely monitored,” he said.
Market association president Sanjay Bhargaw said the decision to close the Chandni Chowk market on Tuesday was taken as a mark of respect for the victims. “We stand with the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident,” he said.
