Ahmedabad, Jun 12: Following the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department has confirmed that around 50 injured individuals have been brought to Civil Hospital Ahmedabad for treatment. Many of the injured are residents of the area where the aircraft went down, which includes the students’ hostel, staff quarters, and other residential buildings of the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital complex.

Dhananjay Dwivedi, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, stated, “The injured are being provided the best possible medical care. Though their condition is serious, they are currently stable.”

To facilitate the identification of the victims, DNA testing has been arranged at B.J. Medical College. Authorities have urged the families and close relatives of the flight’s passengers—especially parents and children—to submit their DNA samples at the location to expedite the identification process.

This comes after an Air India Boeing 787 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad earlier today, with 242 people on board. Rescue and investigation operations are ongoing.
