A massive fire broke out at Tengpora–Bulbulbagh Road in Srinagar on Tuesday evening, gutting carpet and furnishing godowns along with a paint warehouse containing highly flammable materials.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services, the call was received at the State Fire Control Room, Batamaloo, at 5:06 PM, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
Firefighting teams from several stations, supported by foam tenders, a Bronto Skylift, and water boozers, are engaged in controlling the blaze. One firefighter suffered suffocation due to toxic fumes and was shifted to hospital; his condition is stable.
The operation is being supervised by senior F&ES officials. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, and further details are awaited.
