Kupwara, Dec 9: A massive fire in Kupwara claimed the life of a local resident and damaging two residential houses on Tuesday, officials said.
The victim, identified as Pinku Singh, son of Gurdeep Singh of Malik Mohalla, Kupwara, was found dead at the scene after firefighters brought the blaze under control. His body was later shifted to District Hospital Kupwara for necessary medico-legal procedures.
Officials said that two residential houses were completely destroyed in the incident, leaving significant property loss in the area.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained, and further investigations are underway.
