Srinagar, Sept 16: A 55-year-old man from Pattan was critically injured after being allegedly assaulted in Sumbal area of Bandipora on Tuesday.
Reports said the injured, identified as Abdul Hamid Pandith, son of Late Abdul Aziz Pandith and a resident of Uglar Pattan, was initially shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sumbal. He was later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Family sources told that he was attacked and beaten at Pushwari Sumbal, leaving him with a severe head injury. His condition is reported to be critical.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway.
