Weather across Jammu and Kashmir is set to remain largely cloudy in the coming days, with a brief spell of snowfall expected due to an approaching western disturbance.
According to Kashmir Weather, December 29 will witness mostly dry and cloudy conditions, with very light snowfall possible over the Zojila–Drass axis.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to impact J&K on December 30, bringing light to moderate snowfall mainly over the Kashmir Valley. Weather activity is likely to intensify from afternoon and continue till the next morning. If precipitation persists overnight, light snowfall over plains cannot be ruled out, though chances remain around 40 percent, as models are not strongly supportive.

From December 31 to January 1, mostly cloudy weather will prevail across Jammu and Kashmir, accompanied by light to moderate rain and snow showers. While significant snow accumulation over plains appears unlikely due to the weak nature of the system, falling temperatures may improve snowfall chances, and isolated plain areas could see snow, officials said, adding that the situation remains under monitoring.
Thereafter, from January 2 to January 5, dry weather conditions are expected to dominate across Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials have advised travelers, especially those heading towards higher reaches, to stay updated with weather advisories and exercise caution.
