One labourer was killed and three others were injured after an elevated portion of soil and stones collapsed during excavation work in Tumchi Nowpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
Officials said the incident occurred when a section of elevated earth suddenly gave way, trapping workers under debris at the site.
The deceased has been identified as Zubair Ahmed, a resident of Rajouri district.
Following the collapse, locals and fellow labourers rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped workers, shifting them to a nearby hospital.

Three other labourers sustained critical injuries in the incident and are undergoing treatment, officials said.
Police and local authorities have taken cognizance of the incident and started further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collapse. (KNT)
