Kupwara, Sept 17: A wedding celebration in Panzgam village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district turned into a scene of grief and mourning after a road accident claimed the life of a young man.
The deceased, identified as Taufeeq Riyaz Mir, met with a fatal accident near Tourist Hut Panzgam on the Kralpora-Karnah road while driving a Maruti car that collided with a minibus. Taufeeq was reportedly on his way to bring essential items for his aunt’s wedding.
Both Taufeeq and another youth, Javaid, were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kralpora and later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar due to the severity of their injuries. However, Taufeeq succumbed on the way, leaving his family devastated.

The tragedy struck at a particularly heartbreaking moment, as Taufeeq’s aunt, the bride, was preparing to leave for her wedding venue when his body reached home, throwing the entire ceremony into chaos and mourning.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident.
