Srinagar, Oct 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Electric Employees Union has strongly condemned the “derogatory remarks” made by National Conference (NC) leader Mubarak Gul against power department employees.

In a statement, the union said electricity workers have made immense sacrifices to ensure uninterrupted power supply under tough and risky conditions. Over 1,000 employees have lost their lives on duty over the years while serving the department and consumers — including MLA Mubarak Gul himself, the statement noted.

The union criticized the MLA for making baseless statements instead of acknowledging the dedication and hardships of the workforce. It urged him to understand ground realities before commenting on power employees, emphasizing that whether during COVID-19, heavy snowfall, or any crisis, the field staff has always worked with full dedication.

The union further stated that before making such remarks, Mubarak Gul should reflect on the plight of daily wagers, visit the families of those who lost their lives on duty, and refrain from making such comments in the future.
