The high-value signing underlines Auqib’s rapid rise in Indian domestic cricket and marks a landmark achievement for Jammu and Kashmir, a region steadily gaining recognition for producing top-quality cricketing talent despite infrastructural challenges.

The 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler, who led the J&K contingent at the auction, has built a strong reputation on the domestic circuit with his ability to swing the ball, maintain discipline, and deliver under pressure. Auqib has been a consistent match-winner for Jammu and Kashmir across formats.

His breakthrough came in the recent Ranji Trophy season, where he picked up an impressive 44 wickets, finishing among the leading wicket-takers in the country. His match-defining spells against established domestic teams caught the attention of IPL scouts and triggered an intense bidding war at the auction.

Apart from his bowling prowess, Auqib’s ability to contribute valuable runs down the order further enhanced his appeal, making him a sought-after all-round option for franchises.

The news sparked celebrations across Kashmir, with former cricketers, coaches, and fans hailing the feat as a proud moment for the region. Many termed Auqib’s success an inspiration for young aspirants in the Valley, reinforcing the belief that strong domestic performances can pave the way to the IPL stage.

With Delhi Capitals placing significant faith in him, expectations will be high as Auqib Nabi Dar prepares for his maiden IPL season.

Earlier, several J&K players including Abdul Samad, Umran Malik, Parvez Rasool, Rasikh Salam, Yudhvir Singh, Mohammad Mudhasir, and Manzoor Pandav have featured in the IPL, contributing to the growing cricketing footprint of the region at the national level. (KNO)
