Over 50 Dead, Dozens Injured During Eid Holidays Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

Peshawar, June 10: At least 53 people lost their lives and around 50 others were injured in different incidents during the three-day Eid ul-Adha holidays in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said on Monday.

According to Shah Fahad, Director General of Rescue 1122, the emergency service responded to 1,999 incidents and provided medical help to 1,897 people across the province.

Breaking down the death toll, Fahad said 13 people died in Peshawar, 14 in Mardan, three each in Nowshera, Bajaur, and Kurram, four in Haripur, two each in Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, and Battagram, and one each in North Waziristan, Kohat, and Khyber district.

In Peshawar alone, Rescue 1122 handled 418 emergencies including 43 road accidents, 338 medical cases, 20 fire incidents, eight cases of gunfire, and 11 other rescue operations.

Across the province, 349 road accidents were reported, with Peshawar witnessing the highest number. Medical teams treated around 1,400 patients and shifted 431 of them to hospitals in Peshawar.

Additionally, 112 fire incidents and six drowning cases were reported. The emergency service also dealt with 82 recovery operations and responded to 50 crime-related incidents.
