Amur Region, Russia, July 24: A Russian An-24 passenger plane has crashed in the Far East of Russia, killing all 49 people onboard, including 6 crew members.
The plane crashed near the town of Tynda in the Amur Region. According to officials, the aircraft caught fire during its descent. A Mi-8 helicopter crew flew over the site shortly after the crash and saw no signs of survivors.
“According to the director of Tynda Airport, the plane caught fire upon impact,” the regional civil defense and fire safety center told TASS News Agency.

Rescue teams have now reached the crash site and confirmed that there were no survivors. Investigators are trying to find out what caused the crash, with possible technical failure or bad weather under review.
The An-24 is an older type of aircraft, still used for regional flights in some parts of Russia.
