Srinagar, Sep 14: The shopkeepers and hoteliers in Dalgate area of Srinagar on Monday staged a protesr against the Roads and Building (R&B) department for blocking the main road in the area.

The protesters including the local inhabitants assembled on the main road to press for their demands.

Abdul Lateef, President of the area and owner of Hotel Dal Rim told the news agency–that the shopkeepers as well as the hoteliers here in Dalgate have already suffered huge losses and by blocking the road in wake of the ‘damage’ caused to the bridge, the department has added to their miseries.

He said the blockade of the road has led to the further losses to hoteliers as well as to the shopkeepers.

“The government should either rehabilitate us or remove the blockade of the road at an earliest to ensure our families will not suffer,” he said.

The protesters later appealed the authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure the sufferings being faced by them are mitigated—(KNO)
