Baramulla, July 16 : The Department of Dentistry at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla has concluded its internal inquiry into a complaint filed by Sajad Ahmad Parray of Rafiabad, who alleged the wrongful extraction of a tooth during his visit to the college’s Dental OPD.

The complaint, officially registered under receipt number 2961 on July 11, 2025, was promptly addressed by the college administration. In response, the matter was forwarded to the Head of the Dentistry Department, who constituted a departmental committee to thoroughly investigate the claim.

Following clinical and radiological assessments, the committee reported that tooth number 47 was extracted as per standard clinical advice. Additionally, tooth number 46—previously treated through a root canal—was found to be fractured at the root junction and supra-erupted, hindering proper occlusion. As a result, the tooth was deemed non-restorable and extracted in the patient’s best medical interest.

Two Dead, 14 Injured in Drass Road Accident

The investigation found no evidence of clinical negligence or wrongful extraction. The removal of the fractured tooth was determined to be a medically justified decision based on the patient’s dental condition.

In a subsequent communication to the Principal of GMC Baramulla, Parray confirmed that his issue had been appropriately addressed and resolved.

However, Parray also raised a separate concern regarding the alleged unauthorized recording and circulation of his video on social media. He claimed that his consent was neither sought nor granted for the video’s publication, and that despite his request for removal, the content remained online.

The final report of the inquiry, along with Parray’s withdrawal letter, has been submitted to the Principal and Medical Superintendent for official record.
