New Delhi, May 17: The official Twitter account of Oxford Dictionary has rubbished Rahul Gandhi’s claim that a new word Modilie has been added to the dictionary. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed in a tweet that the word “Modilie” has been added to the dictionary and it means “to constantly modify the truth”.
“We can confirm that the image showing the entry ‘Modilie’ is fake and does not exist in any of our Oxford Dictionaries,” Oxford Dictionary’s official Twitter handle said in reply to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet.
Rahul Gandhi’s tweet about the addition of the word “Modilie” has become another major controversy of the election season. The tweets posted by Rahul Gandhi on this matter were full of glitches.
Rahul Gandhi had posted the Modilie tweet twice. The dictionary’s logo in Rahul Gandhi tweets is different than the one on the Oxford’s website. The first tweet carried a fake Oxford logo and was deleted within minutes. The second tweet had another logo, which still looked similar to Oxford Dictionary page but the word Oxford had been dropped.
It is unclear whether the Congress’s IT cell posted it as a joke or were they trying to use a morphed image to spread incorrect information. (Agencies)
