(Asian News Hub) – In a first, the department of youth services and sports Srinagar has organised deaf and dumb and district boys and girls snow skiing courses to be held at famous Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district from February 12 to 25.

The programme was by inaugurated by the department of district youth services and sports Srinagar in which a group of deaf and dumb children was flagged off to take part i. snow skiing course at Gulmarg.

Talking to the news agency—KNO additional deputy commissioner Srinagar, Haneef Balki said that the group of deaf and dumb children was flagged off to Gulmarg to attend 10 days basic snow skiing course at Gulmarg.

He said that this is the first ever programme where deaf and dumb children will take part in the basic snow skiing course.

District youth service and sports officer Srinagar, Balbeer Singh said that on the directions of director general youth services and sports to organise this programme so that deaf and dumb children can take part in this sports activities.

He said that it is the first ever event which is being organised for deaf and dumb children under the guidelines of director general youth services and sports.

He said that this has now become a routine calendar as in future such events will be organised for the youth to take part in different sports activities.

Arwa Imtiyaz, translator for deaf and dumb children said that this is a welcome step taken by the department of youth services and sports and today 12 deaf and dumb children have taken part in this programme.

“Next year we want more children to take part in these activities. These children have immense talent and they want to take part in these events. Today more children wanted to participate in this event but unfortunately there were vacancies.

We hope next time more deaf and dumb children will be accommodated in these events,” she said. Arwa also thanks the district youth services and sports department Srinagar for organising this event.
