Shopian, Jan 05: An encounter has started between militants and security forces in Chotigam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district this morning.
Reports said that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon-and-search operation in Chotigam Shopian.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering an encounter.
Kashmir Zone Police on its official X handle said, “#Encounter has started at Chotigam area of #Shopian district. Shopian Police, Army & CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
