At least eight fire incidents were reported across different districts of the Kashmir Division during the last 24 hours, officials from the Fire and Emergency Services said on Tuesday.
An official from the department said that the incidents occurred between December 23 and December 24, 2025. He said timely and professional intervention by firefighting teams helped bring all the fires under control, thereby preventing loss of lives and limiting damage to property.
According to details, a double-storeyed residential house along with an attached cowshed was damaged in a fire incident at Firdous Colony, Delina in Sopore. In Pazalpora area of Magam in Kupwara district, a Deodar tree caught fire and was extinguished. A residential house was also affected by fire in Shah-e-Hamdan Colony, Tandpora, Hajin area of Bandipora.

A forest fire was reported from Gatipora, Keller in Pulwama district, while dry grass caught fire at Pathanpora, Nasrulla Pora in Budgam. Another residential house was damaged in a fire incident at Pirchoo, Pulwama, and a cowshed was affected by fire at Dachoo, Zainapora in the same district.
In north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, three Army barracks constructed with pacca structures, GCI sheets and wooden material were affected by fire at 28 Light Infantry, Zangil area.
The official said all the incidents were handled efficiently by Fire and Emergency Services personnel, whose swift response prevented the situation from worsening.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of ADGP Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar, fire operations across the Kashmir Division were carried out smoothly. The ADGP has appealed to the public to remain cautious during the winter season, particularly while using electrical appliances at night, and advised people to avoid overloading electrical circuits to prevent fire mishaps.
