Srinagar, Aug 10: Content creators are voicing growing frustration with Facebook’s Content monetization system, accusing the platform of rewarding “copy-paste” pages with large payouts while punishing originality.
Facebook’s monetization system is flooding copy-paste pages with big payouts, while those creating original interviews, reports, and on-ground videos are left with “pennies.”
“Why should someone who steals or reposts content earn more than the person who actually creates it? Facebook is killing creativity and encouraging theft,” said one furious content maker.
Video journalists, interview hosts, and reel makers say they spend hours producing authentic content, only to see pages that repost or duplicate material earning far more. “It’s demoralizing. We invest time, money, and creativity, but Facebook seems to value recycled content more than original work,” said one creator.
Creators say the platform’s current payout model is a slap in the face for genuine work and allege that Facebook’s algorithm deliberately boosts engagement-heavy recycled posts, sidelining authentic content.
They demand urgent reform, full transparency, and fair rewards for original creators — warning that if this continues, the platform will become nothing more than a dumping ground for stolen content.
