Sources within the education department told Asian News Hub (ANH) that there are several initiatives that will be taken up in the ongoing financial year to address the issue of dropout rate of girls.

They informed that under the new budget 2022-23, some of the initiatives include the construction of residential hostel facilities for girl students and education of tribal students.

Sharing the details, they said that the department is going to construct 49 Girls hostel buildings and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalays (KGBV), saying that a total of 37 Girls hostel buildings and 12 KGBVs will be constructed this financial year.

“Such an initiative is aimed at improving residential facilities for girls and bringing about desired gender parity in education,” sources further informed.

Moreover, they said that the government is also planning to execute the work on residential Schools in Jammu and Kashmir—one each in Shopian and Rajouri.
