Srinagar, Apr 29: The sudden death of a young man in the Bemina area of Srinagar has raised concern in the locality, with authorities launching an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to initial reports, the sequence of events began with a minor altercation between two school students earlier in the day. What started as a verbal disagreement within the school premises is said to have later led to tension in the locality after family members of those involved entered into discussions.

During this period, an exchange reportedly took place between individuals from both sides, though accounts of the interaction differ. Some sources claimed the situation briefly turned physical, while others described it as a verbal confrontation.

Locals, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, intervened promptly and brought the situation under control. It is learnt that both sides agreed to de-escalate the matter, and earlier complaints were resolved at that stage.

However, later in the evening, a gathering was reported in the area after Shah returned home from work. Eyewitnesses said a crowd had assembled in the locality, but locals again stepped in to disperse the gathering, preventing any further escalation.

In a sudden development, at around 9:40 PM, Shah reportedly complained of uneasiness at his residence. He was immediately shifted to JVC Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, multiple versions have surfaced regarding the cause of death. While some accounts suggest a possible medical condition, others have attempted to link it to the earlier altercation.

Authorities, however, have urged caution, stating that no conclusions should be drawn until the post-mortem examination is completed.

Police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry.

Officials said the exact cause of death will be determined based on medical findings and the outcome of the investigation.

Security has been heightened in the locality as a precautionary measure to maintain public order. Police deployment has been increased since Tuesday night to prevent any escalation, particularly amid concerns over rumours circulating on social media.

Officials have also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to allow the investigation to take its course.
