Baramulla, Jun 17: In a heartbreaking incident from Baandpora Lalpora area of Kunzer, an 8-year-old boy has died after being allegedly assaulted by a 14-year-old, who has now confessed to the crime.

According to police statement, on June 12, the minor boy was found unconscious in a field near his home. He was immediately shifted by family members to JVC Hospital Srinagar for treatment. A case was registered at Police Station Kunzer, and forensic experts were called in to examine the scene.

Despite receiving medical care, the child tragically succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of June 17. After completing medico-legal formalities, his body was handed over to the family for last rites.

During the investigation, a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) admitted to his involvement in the incident that led to the child’s death. The juvenile has been apprehended under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and will be presented before the appropriate legal authority.

Police also detained two more individuals related to the accused for questioning. Officials say multiple angles are being investigated to understand the full scope of the incident.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has assured the public that the investigation is being conducted in a fair, thorough, and professional manner, with all legal procedures strictly followed.
