Pulwama, Dec 11: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Awantipora Police have arrested woman drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from her possession.

In a media statement, a police spokesman said that Police Station Awantipora received reliable information regarding presence of contraband in a residential house at Larkipora. Accordingly, police party of Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora and led by SHO PS Awantipora Khalid Fayaz along with Tehsildar Awantipora raided the said house. During the search, 20.500 KGs of Charas like substance has been recovered from the residential house of one lady namely Fareeda Akhter R/O Larkipora.

He said accordingly, a case FIR No. 173/2024 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in police Station Awantipora & investigation has been initiated. The lady drug peddler involved in the commission of the crime has been arrested.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere in your vicinity, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law, the spokesman added.
