Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi, reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to achieving lasting peace and completely eliminating terrorism in the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director (Intelligence Bureau), Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other senior officials.
Addressing the meeting, Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is firmly committed to establishing enduring peace in Jammu and Kashmir and eradicating terrorism in all its forms. Reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, he said sustained and coordinated efforts over the past years have significantly crippled the terror eco-system in the region.

The Home Minister lauded the security agencies for their role in strengthening the security environment in Jammu and Kashmir and directed that Counter Terror (CT) operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing should continue in a mission mode. He emphasized the need for constant vigilance and seamless coordination among all security and intelligence agencies to consolidate the gains achieved so far.
Amit Shah further instructed all agencies to work in close synergy to ensure that the progress made after the abrogation of Article 370 is sustained and the objective of a “terror-free Jammu and Kashmir” is achieved at the earliest. He assured that the central government would provide all necessary resources and support to security forces in this endeavour.
The meeting reviewed the overall security scenario in the Union Territory, assessed ongoing counter-terror measures, and discussed strategies to further strengthen peace and stability across the region.
