Srinagar, Dec 16: National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has urged the Central Government on Monday to grant a one-time age relaxation for aspirants of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector (JKPSI) recruitment.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Mehdi said that the delays in the recruitment process have rendered many candidates ineligible due to exceeding the upper age limit. “This situation has deprived qualified individuals of the opportunity to join the police force,” he said.

“This recruitment process has faced delays for the past four years, primarily due to irregularities linked to the recruitment agency, APTECH. These delays have disqualified many aspirants who have now exceeded the upper age limit,” he said.

Mehdi expressed concern over the impact of these delays on the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, many of whom, he said, feel uncertain about their future. He suggested that granting a one-time age relaxation would address the issue and help rebuild trust in the recruitment process.

He called on the central government and the Home Minister to take immediate action to resolve the matter and ensure that the eligible candidates are given a chance to participate in the recruitment process.

“This step would provide an opportunity for these individuals to secure employment and address the challenges they have faced due to the delays,” he said.
