Srinagar, July 13: Prominent religious scholars Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi have strongly condemned Imran Reza Ansari over his recent remarks regarding sacred Islamic personalities, calling them disrespectful and against the teachings of leading religious authorities.
In a post on X, Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi cited a fatwa by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which clearly forbids insulting revered Islamic figures — including the three caliphs and the Mothers of the Believers.
He stated that any opinion contradicting such fatwas is a personal view and not representative of Islamic teachings. Aga Hadi added that Ansari’s comments reflect ignorance of these crucial religious rulings and show an irresponsible attitude that threatens Muslim unity. He urged Imran Reza Ansari to issue a public apology to the Muslim Ummah and called for the protection of peace, unity, and religious harmony.
Earlier, M.P Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi also took to X to strongly criticize Imran Reza Ansari’s remarks. In his post, he wrote:
“The same Jurisprudential Authority, Ayatullah Khamenei, has issued a decree (fatwa) that it is forbidden (haram) to insult Khulafa-e-Rashideen or the sacred tenets and sanctities of Ahl al-Sunnah. If you are so much inspired by his leadership, stop doing what is forbidden. And stop using religion for your personal benefit.”
