(Asian News Hub) – While the administration is trying to prevent spreading of COVID-19, the private institutes in a bizarre move are holding regular classes by violating the government recommended Coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The news agency—KNO has leant that a private school in frontier district Kupwara was holding a regular class in a rented room despite government directives of conducting only online classes during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara Abdul Hamid Fani told that a private school in the region was teaching students via offline mode.

Fani said that the department has served them a show-cause notice to explain their position pertaining to the functioning of the school during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

He said that the department visited the spot to ascertain the factual position and found 20 to 25 students of different classes including four teachers of the school teaching in a room of a private building of the village.

Meanwhile, CEO Kupwara in an official communiqué said that it received a complaint against the institution regarding conducting offline class.

“The action violates the basic COVID-19 SOPs prescribed by the government during the lockdown period which is liable for action under Disaster Management Act including cancellation of recognition of the institute.

“Before proceeding further into the matter the private school management was given a chance to reply to the show cause notice within one day failing which action will be initiated against the school without any further reminder,” Fani said.

He also said that the school management was directed to stop conducting offline classes and other activities that were violating the recommended SOPs.
