Srinagar, Jan 17: The residents of Chattabal area of Srinagar on Sunday staged a protest here and demanded authorities to look why Army has dug a play field in their locality.
According to new agency-KNO, scores of residents from Chana Mohalla Chattabal and adjoining areas assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave today.
Javaid Ahmad, one of the protesters said that they saw some Army men digging a local playfield in their area. “Soon after spotting them in the field, we approached towards them and asked why they are digging the playfield. We were told that they are planting a tree in the ground,” he said.
However, he said that locals are apprehensive that the Army is going to ‘grab’ the land, therefore want the authorities to look into the matter.
“The government must look into the matter and ensure that the land available as playfield for the youth must not be grabbed by anyone,” Ahmad said.
