The case was registered under FIR No. 118/2026, in which four persons were arrested for their alleged involvement.

However, police said the concerned officer failed to fulfill mandatory arrest procedures while carrying out the arrests.

Taking serious note of the lapse, Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure ordered the suspension of the officer.

In a separate action, the SSP also initiated departmental enquiries against 16 beat officers for allegedly failing to report illegal cultivation of contraband crops in their respective jurisdictions.

Police said a recent review of field reports and ground verification found that certain officers had not promptly reported illegal cultivation, reflecting negligence in the discharge of their duties.

The officers have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance, conduct regular field inspections, and ensure timely reporting of any illegal activities.
