Anantnag/Srinagar, Dec 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a time-bound inquiry into the death of a 24-year-old woman at the Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Anantnag, after her family alleged medical negligence during and after childbirth.
The deceased, Khushboo Jan, wife of Zubair Ahmed Bhat of Pushwara Khanabal, was admitted on Saturday for delivery and underwent a surgical procedure. According to her husband, she later complained of dizziness and her condition deteriorated despite repeated intimation to the medical staff. He alleged that she was administered a cold glucose drip and was subsequently taken back to the operating theatre, where doctors informed the family that her uterus needed to be removed.
She was later referred to GMC Anantnag, where she died on ventilation late Sunday night.

Following the incident, the Health & Medical Education Department issued Government Order, appointing Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal GMC Srinagar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed probe into the sequence of events that occurred on December 8 at MCCH Anantnag.
The Inquiry Officer has been asked to submit a comprehensive report with recommendations within 14 days. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Medical Superintendent MCCH Anantnag, will assist in the inquiry.
