Srinagar, Dec 1: A residential structure was damaged after a fire broke out in the Habbakadal area of Srinagar on Monday afternoon, officials said.
Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Deputy Director F&ES, Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, said the blaze had fully engulfed the three-storey structure before firefighters managed to contain it with the assistance of local residents.
“With tremendous efforts from locals and our teams, the fire was brought under control. Cooling operations are currently underway,” he said.

Two firefighters sustained injuries while battling the flames and have since been shifted to a hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, he added.
