Srinagar, Nov 29: A pre-dawn fire broke out on Saturday at the old faculty building of SKIMS Bemina (JVC Hospital) in Srinagar, causing significant damage to the structure and property inside.
The blaze was reported at 06:10 AM, following which Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) teams were immediately alerted.
According to an F&ES official, the double-storeyed extended building suffered extensive damage, especially on the first floor, where roofing, ceiling, furniture, computers, office records, aluminium cabins, lockers, air conditioners and the heating system were severely affected. The ground floor also sustained indirect damage due to heat and water used during the operation.

He said, F&ES units from JVC/Weir, Headquarters and Rawalpora stations took part in controlling the blaze. As per the on-spot fire officer, the fire was successfully brought under control at 06:47 AM after a coordinated effort.
No injuries were reported, and the exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
