Ganderbal, Jan 05: People in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Tuesday complained that the authorities did not clear the snow on  many roads of the district due to which patients are facing hardships as the snow has accumulated.

As per the reports, a 15-year-old boy from Ganderbal, after consuming poisonous substance was taken to Kachan primary health centre in critical condition where from, he was referred to SKIMS Soura for further treatment.

However, due to closure of roads it took a herculean effort for his family and hospital staff to shift the patient.

” It was only after few employees and locals cleared snow from the road by their own hands, the patient was shifted to SKIMS in an ambulance where his condition is stated to be critical,” locals said.

Locals said snow accumulation has restrained their movement as the authorities have failed to clear the many roads in the district.

Meanwhile, local people have appealed the district administration to clear the snow from all roads at the earliest so that people can heave a sigh of relief in this harsh winter.

Deputy BMO Kachan told KNO, that he along with his staff had to clear the snow in the hospital campus by themselves.

“Not a single person came here for snow clearance. To save the patient, we pushed the ambulance and make a way for it,” BMO said.

Meanwhile,  Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Tuesday took a whirlwind tour of Ganderbal town of the district to monitor the snow clearance operation, restoration of essential services.

During the visit the DC personally monitored the snow clearance operations, restoration of electricity and water supply in the town.

Earlier DC Ganderbal chaired a meeting to review the restoration of essential services and snow clearance operation in the district after the heavy snowfall throughout the Valley.

The meeting also reviewed the stock position and supply of essential commodities in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmed Baba, ASP Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, EO Municipality, executive Engineers of various wings.
