Srinagar, Nov 12: In one of the largest coordinated operations in recent months, Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out massive raids across several districts, including Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Awantipora, and Sopore, targeting members and associates of the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). The outfit remains proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The district-wide search operations were conducted simultaneously at hundreds of locations as part of a sustained effort to dismantle the terror–separatist ecosystem, cut off its ideological and financial networks, and prevent attempts to revive JeI’s activities through covert or proxy means.

During the operations, police teams searched residential houses and other premises linked with JeI members and sympathisers. Incriminating materials including documents, digital devices, and printed literature were seized for detailed examination. Several individuals were detained for questioning, while others were bound down under preventive laws to stop their involvement in unlawful activities.

Officials said that in Kulgam district alone, raids were carried out at over 200 locations, and more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have taken place over the last four days. Around 500 people with links to banned outfits were interrogated, and many were shifted to District Jail Mattan, Anantnag, under preventive laws.

Similar coordinated actions were carried out in Sopore, Awantipora, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora, Anantnag, and Shopian districts. Police also confirmed that a significant quantity of incriminating materials was recovered from various sites, and the seized evidence is being analysed.

In Shopian, a separate case was registered after a Facebook page titled “Voice of Humanity” shared a video containing a speech promoting separatist sentiments. Police registered FIR No. 109/2025 at Police Station Zainapora and launched an investigation into the matter.

A police spokesperson said these actions reflect J&K Police’s “zero tolerance towards terrorism and its support structures” and reaffirmed their firm resolve to maintain peace, stability, and public order across the Union Territory.

“J&K Police remain committed to taking strong legal action against all individuals and entities associated with proscribed organisations or involved in disturbing peace and harmony in the region,” the spokesperson added.
