Srinagar, Nov 07: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a doctor late on Thursday night on charges of putting up posters in support of terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The accused, Dr Adil Ahmed, a resident of south Kashmir’s Anantnag, has been taken on a transit remand for interrogation, officials said.
According to police sources, the Srinagar police had recently registered a case after posters promoting Jaish-e-Mohammed were found in several parts of the city.Dr Ahmed was working as a specialist at a hospital on Ambala Road in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Police said CCTV footage showed him putting up several posters in Anantnag, which contained messages in support of the terrorist organisation and had triggered tension in Srinagar.During investigation, CCTV footage showed a man putting up the posters, who was later identified as Adil Ahmed from Anantnag, they said.
The Jammu and Kashmir police had been tracking the accused and traced his location to Saharanpur.
A Srinagar police team, with assistance from the local police and the Special Operations Group, raided the private hospital on Ambala Road and took Ahmed into custody, the police said.
