Srinagar, Oct 28: The Omar Abdullah-led government on Tuesday rejected a bill moved by PDP MLA Waheed Parra, which sought to grant land ownership rights to occupants residing on state land.
The bill was introduced during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah opposed the proposal, emphasizing that individuals living on land illegally cannot be granted ownership rights.
“The government is committed to providing land to landless families through proper channels and legal frameworks,” the Chief Minister stated.
