During the visit, Sinha directed the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police of Kupwara to speed up the resolution of pending cases related to terror victims under a special rehabilitation scheme initiated for their support.

During his visit to Dardpora in Kupwara district to meet residents and families impacted by terrorism. Sinha told officials and local residents that the administration is committed to justice, livelihood assistance, and rehabilitation for people affected by terror violence. “It is our responsibility to stand with families who have faced losses due to terrorism and ensure they receive support in Jammu and Kashmir’s path of peace and development,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor recalled his meetings with terror-affected families in 2024 and noted that many households had lost primary earners, leaving them in difficult circumstances. “While some families have been provided government employment, a number of them continue to face challenges. We have reviewed the situation and decided that every district must take responsibility to support these families,” Sinha said.

He provided details about the ongoing rehabilitation program, stating that 247 individuals have already received government jobs. “Additional applications are under process through an online system. Genuine cases will be supported, but applications from those with links to terrorism will not be considered,” he added.

Sinha also mentioned that the administration is coordinating with voluntary organizations to reconstruct homes damaged in cross-border shelling in Kupwara. “An organization from Kerala has offered to rebuild houses that were destroyed in these incidents,” he added.

The Lieutenant Governor concluded by saying that the government will continue to work with families affected by terrorism and cross-border violence, providing support for rebuilding their homes and ensuring livelihood opportunities. “The government will remain with every innocent person affected by terrorism. Through collective efforts, Jammu and Kashmir can move toward development, security, and self-reliance,” Sinha stated.

During his visit, Sinha met several families, reviewed cases pending under the special rehabilitation program, and sought updates from officials on the progress of employment and housing initiatives for victims of terrorism.(KNS)
