Heavy Rain, Snow Predicted in Parts of J&K; Farmers Advised to Suspend Work

Srinagar, Oct 06: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory predicting widespread rain and snow across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days.

According to the forecast, Monday (6 October) will remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain, thunder, and gusty winds in most parts of J&K. Higher reaches are likely to receive light to moderate snowfall. There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Jammu division and moderate to heavy rain in parts of Kashmir division.

On Tuesday (7 October), light to moderate rain and light snow (over higher reaches) are expected during the forenoon or afternoon, followed by gradual improvement in weather.
A brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places on 8 October, while the weather is expected to remain mainly dry from 9 to 16 October.

The MeT department has advised farmers to suspend all agricultural activities on 6 and 7 October due to the expected wet spell.
There is a risk of landslides and shooting stones in hilly and vulnerable areas.

Light to moderate snowfall is likely over higher reaches of Kashmir, Chenab Valley, and the Pir Panjal range, with moderate to heavy snow at a few high-altitude locations in South Kashmir and Chenab Valley.

Authorities have urged people to stay alert and avoid travel through landslide-prone areas during heavy rain or snow.
