New Delhi, Sept 17: The Union Ministry of Education has directed CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) to ensure screening of the short film Chalo Jeete Hain in affiliated schools.
The 32-minute film, inspired by incidents from the early life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be shown to students between September 16 and October 2. The ministry believes the screening will encourage children to reflect on values like character, service and responsibility.
In a letter to the school boards, Joint Secretary Archana Sharma Awasthi said the film is already part of Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program, which is run at the historic vernacular school in Vadnagar, Gujarat – the same school where PM Modi began his education. She noted that participants of the program have found the film deeply inspiring and have reflected its message in their actions.

“The film can also serve as a case study for moral reasoning, and support social-emotional learning by developing empathy, self-reflection, critical thinking and inspiration,” the ministry said.
Released in 2018, Chalo Jeete Hain won the National Award for Best Non-Feature Film on Family Values at the 66th National Film Awards in 2019.
