Reacting on X, MLA Pulwama Waheed Parra said he “strongly condemns” the use of PSA against Malik, calling it a draconian law weaponised to “silence political voices and crush dissent.” He added that such authoritarian measures cannot resolve differences in a democracy.
MLA Handwara and People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone also condemned the move, terming it a “soulless democracy.” He questioned the purpose of holding elections if elected representatives are not allowed to voice their concerns. “A very sad day for an already endangered democracy,” Lone said.
