Baramulla, Aug 31: Police in Baramulla have uncovered a shocking plot in which an advocate, his wife, and an accomplice allegedly planted a fake Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a house in Tangmarg to falsely accuse the woman’s ex-husband.
Police said that on July 31, they received information about an IED at the home of Manzoor Ahmed Khan, resident of Mahayan Ferozpora. A cordon and search operation was launched and a suspicious package was found near the gate. The Bomb Disposal Squad later confirmed it was a fake device with no explosives.
Investigations revealed that the device was planted by Sajad Ahmed Ganie of Nowgam Sumbal, who admitted he did it at the behest of Advocate Rahila Qadri. She, along with her current husband Advocate Rayees Ahmed Bhat, allegedly planned the act to get her ex-husband into trouble due to a long-running matrimonial dispute.
Investigation has further established that Advocate Rahila Qadri harbored deep grudges against her ex-husband and orchestrated this conspiracy to frame him. The accused Sajad Ganie also deliberately provided false information to police after planting the fake IED, in an attempt to implicate the house owner in a fabricated recovery case.
In pursuance of relevant sectiona of law, notices have been served to all three accused persons and the case will be taken to its logical conclusion before the competent court of law.
Baramulla Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring that no person is falsely implicated.
