Sabha Rasool, a resident of Safakadal in Srinagar, was pursuing her MBBS in Iran when she died under yet-to-be-disclosed circumstances. Her sudden demise has left her family and community in deep shock.

In an official communication, Bibhuti Nath Pandey, Under Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed that all necessary formalities are currently underway.

The Embassy of India in Tehran is seized of the matter and is working to expedite the required processes. All efforts are being made to complete the procedures. The mortal remains are expected to be transported to India, probably on Tuesday,” Pandey said.

The Ministry has assured the bereaved family that updates will be shared at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association also issued a statement, confirming that it has spoken directly with Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, regarding the matter.

“We have received his complete assurance that the Ministry is actively pursuing the matter with utmost urgency,” the association stated.

“The necessary formalities for the transportation of her mortal remains are already underway, and all possible efforts are being made to expedite the process. The mortal remains are expected to be transported to India, most likely on Tuesday, so that the bereaved family may perform her last rites in her homeland. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Sabha Rasool in this unimaginably difficult time.”
