Baramulla, July 21: The body of a man who had drowned in River Jhelum at Azad Gunj Baramulla was recovered on Monday morning, two days after he went missing.
An official told that the man (name withheld), a resident of Wenkura Baramulla had allegedly jumped into the river jhelum on Saturday, July 19, under unknown circumstances.
Eyewitnesses said the man leapt into the water at around 10:30 AM, prompting immediate alerts to authorities. Rescue teams from SDRF, J&K Police, and local volunteers launched an extensive search operation that spanned over 48 hours.
Two Residential Houses, Shed Damaged in Rajbagh Blaze
The body was recovered near Veerwan Pandith Colony and shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
