Srinagar, July 11: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather alert for several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, warning of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms during the next 3 to 5 hours.
According to the update issued at 8:30 PM, rain and thunder are expected in many parts of the Kashmir Valley, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, Reasi, Udhampur, and some plains of Jammu.
The department also said that a few areas may receive intense showers, which could lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in hilly regions.

Strong gusty winds, reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, may also occur in some places.
People have been advised to stay indoors and keep away from loose structures, old trees, and electric poles or wires during the storm.
