Srinagar, Jun 23: Srinagar Police have detained two people for placing foreign flags in the Balhama area during the night, in what appears to be an attempt to disturb public peace.
Based on reliable information and visual evidence, police began an investigation after United States and Israel flags were found installed in the area. Several suspects were identified and questioned.
Three people were found involved in the act identified as Mohsin Ali Dar, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Balhama, Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar, resident of Dar Mohalla, Balhama, and Amir Ali Dar, son of Manzoor Hussain, resident of Khazir Mohalla, Balhama.
Two of them have been detained, while police are trying to arrest the third.
The police said this act was meant to provoke people, disturb communal harmony, and spread anti-social messages. Legal action has been taken.
Srinagar Police said they are committed to maintaining peace and order in the district.
