Tehran, Jun 15: At least 138 people have been killed hundreds injured in Israeli airstrikes on Iran since Friday, June 13, according to official Iranian media. The attacks have targeted key military and nuclear installations across several Iranian cities.

Among those killed are several top-ranking Iranian military commanders. The dead include Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s Chief of Staff; Major General Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force; and General Gholam Ali Rashid, a senior figure in Iran’s military strategy command. Additionally, nine senior nuclear scientists have also lost their lives in the strikes.

Israeli fighter jets carried out precision strikes on over 100 strategic targets, including nuclear facilities in Natanz and Isfahan, as well as missile bases in Kermanshah and Tabriz. Reports suggest that Mossad-operated drones had earlier disabled key air defence systems in Tehran, paving the way for successful airstrikes.

In response to the attacks, Iran launched missiles and drones targeting Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. At least 13 people were killed in Israel, and many others were injured. A Croatian diplomat and his wife were also reportedly injured in a missile blast in Tehran.

As a precaution, Iran has suspended all domestic and international flights, opened underground metro stations as public shelters, and moved important museum artifacts to secret locations for safety.

Meanwhile, Iran has announced that it is withdrawing from ongoing nuclear negotiations, calling the talks “meaningless” in light of the current attacks. Iranian authorities have also accused the United States of backing the Israeli strikes, saying that American bases in the region provided logistical support.

The situation remains tense, with fears of further escalation in the coming days. Several countries, including Russia, China, Turkey, and the European Union, have called for calm and urged both sides to avoid a wider conflict.
