Sopore, May 24: The Sopore Chemist and Druggists Association, in collaboration with the Drug Department Baramulla, organized a drug awareness programme under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Dak Bungalow Sopore. The event was led by the association’s president, Showkat Mohi-ud-din Lone.
The programme witnessed the participation of several key departments and dignitaries, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, officials from Sopore Police, 22 Rashtriya Rifles (22RR), representatives of the Drug Department Baramulla, and local MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar, among others.
Students from various schools also took part in the event to raise awareness about the drug abuse and its consequences. The event aimed to sensitize the younger generation and the public at large about the growing menace of drug addiction.

All local chemist shop owners were also present and actively participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the fight against drug misuse in the region.
The event concluded with an award ceremony where MLA Irshad Rasool Kar, ADC Sopore, SDPO Sopore, and officials from the Drug Department felicitated chemist shop owners and other notable participants for their contributions towards the cause.
