Washington, May 19: Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his office confirmed on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The diagnosis followed a medical evaluation last week after Biden reported urinary symptoms and doctors detected a prostate nodule. Further tests revealed that the cancer had metastasized to the bone.
Despite the seriousness of the condition, Biden’s office stated that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which opens the door for effective treatment and management options.
“The President and his family are currently reviewing treatment strategies with his medical team,” the statement read.
In response to the news, President Donald J. Trump expressed his sympathy. “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” Trump wrote. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Biden’s team is expected to provide further updates as treatment plans are finalized.
