Strong Winds Cause Widespread Damage Across Kashmir

Srinagar, March 28: Heavy gusty winds swept across various parts of Kashmir valley, causing significant damage to vehicles, rooftops, and power infrastructure.

Several areas reported incidents of property damage, while authorities rushed to assess the impact and begin restoration efforts.

Reports said in Srinagar city, strong winds led to complete destruction of a vehicle near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Srinagar.

Witnesses reported the vehicles were severely damaged as debris fall on them due to the storm. Also, several electric cables were snapped, raising concerns over power disruptions.

Additionally, the electricity supply was affected in multiple areas, with officials working to restore services.

“No casualties were reported,” an official said.

Moreover, in Habbak Srinagar, a rooftop collapsed because of high-tension (HT) power lines, falling on it causing further disruptions.

Officials from Fire and Emergency Services said the fireman immediately reached the spot to assess the damage and initiate relief operations.

Notably, in Ganderbal strong winds hit the area. Residents also witnessed high-speed waves causing damage to rooftops and outdoor structures.

Pertainly, administration and emergency response teams are on high alert to handle any further damages or disruptions caused by the ongoing weather conditions. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and take precautions as strong winds persist in some areas. (JKNS)
