The victims, Danish Ahmad Khan and his mother, Fameeda Akhter, residents of Gudder village, were found unconscious on Thursday after inhaling toxic fumes from a charcoal fire used for heating. They were rushed to GMC Anantnag and later shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

Despite prompt medical attention, Danish Ahmad succumbed to the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning on Saturday morning. His mother remains critical and is under intensive medical care.

This incident has raised concerns about the unsafe use of charcoal for heating in poorly ventilated spaces, a common practice in the region during harsh winters. Officials have urged residents to ensure proper ventilation when using heating devices to prevent similar tragedies.

The incident has left the Gudder village community in mourning, with prayers pouring in for the recovery of Fameeda Akhter.
